Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is introducing turbo feature for all of its 2018 Fiat 500 lineup in the US.
All 2018 Fiat 500 models now come standard with 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine and 33% more horsepower than last year’s model.
The 2018 Fiat 500 lineup will include three models, Pop, Lounge and Abarth.
Pop and Lounge models now come standard with the 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine.
The engine has a single turbocharger, twin intercoolers and a sport-tuned exhaust, and delivers 135 horsepower and 150 lb.-ft. of torque – 34 more standard horsepower than last year’s model.
The MultiAir Turbo engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard and is available with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Power produced from this turbocharged engine is transmitted to wheels via a five speed manual transmission or customers can choose a six-speed automatic transmission.
FCA North America passenger car brands head Steve Beahm said: “With an all-turbo lineup, the iconic Fiat 500 now offers an even more dynamic driving experience and more standard horsepower than any of its competitors.
“In fact, the entire FIAT brand lineup now comes standard with turbocharged power, adding to our roster of fun-to-drive, Italian-designed vehicles.”
The Fiat 500’s engine is shared with other vehicles including the 500L, the small crossover 500X in Pop models and Fiat 124 Spider.
The 500X Trekking and Lounge models are fitted with 2.4 liter Tigershark MultiAir2 engine coupled with nine-speed transmission and an all-wheel-drive system with improved fuel efficiency.
The Pop and Lounge models have also been updated with 16-inch aluminum wheels, performance braking system, sport suspension and ParkView rear backup camera.
Fiat 500 Abarth claims to give an output of 160hp and 183 lb.-ft. of torque. Other features in Abarth include performance suspension, three-mode electronic stability control, torque transfer control (TTC) system for high throttle performance during throttle cornering.
It is fitted with 16-inch Hyper Black aluminum wheels and an Abarth-designed concentric ‘double-tip’ dual-exhaust system.
The Fiat 500 lineup comes with new colours for 2018 including Brillante Red, Mezzanotte Blue Pearl and Vesuvio Black Pearl – for a total of 11 exterior paint color choices. The lineup will also be available as a Cabrio.
