Worldwide moulded glass production
Gerresheimer has 8 moulded glass production facilities in America, Asia and Europe where it manufactures products for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. The most recent addition in April 2012 was Neutral Glass & Allied Industries Pvt. Ltd., India, in which Gerresheimer has a majority shareholding.
A total of 2,800 people around the globe are working in the Moulded Glass Division. Every year, this division manufactures around 4.4 billion moulded glass products on 59 production lines that are fed by 17 furnaces.

Gerresheimer manufactures syrup bottles, moulded bottles, droppers, tablet jars, wide-necked jars, cream jars injection vials and infusion bottles for the pharmaceutical industry.
Comprehensive range of articles and designs
The current product portfolio includes vials and jars in a wide range of needs-oriented designs plus numerous additional options. It features amber and flint glass products, colored pharmaceutical jars and opal glass products with all current mouth shapes and volume capacities of between 2 to 4,000 ml. Printing or matte finishing are available for all glass products.
Flint and amber glass types I, II and III
The Gerresheimer product range includes all the pharmaceutically relevant glass types. In addition to borosilicate glass type I, sodium silica glass types II and III are also available. As a result, customers can select the optimum glass type for all their pharmaceuticals. With this choice of glass types, Gerresheimer is able to offer the ideal packaging for even the most sensitive medications and the most cost-effective packaging solutions.
Clean room systems
Gerresheimer uses state-of-the-art process and control technologies from development, through production to outer packaging. Clean room systems are used when necessary to rule out germ and particulate contamination.
Custom-made outer packaging
Gerresheimer caters to all types of filling technology with a range of packaging options, from Safe-Pack and Tray-Pack to industrial and custom-made outer packaging.
Production to highest quality standards
Gerresheimer has production operations in Europe, America and Asia. All production facilities operate according to uniform and very high quality standards. The packaging products are manufactured on the basis of the most recent defect evaluation lists and in accordance with the relevant pharmacopeia requirements. All plants have DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 / 15378:2007 certification and the German plants in Essen, Tettau and Lohr are also certified as compliant with the ISO 50001 energy management standard.
Process optimization through analysis
A detailed analysis such as the analysis offered by Gerresheimer Moulded Glass, is necessary to ascertain the specific challenges associated with any one packaging line. The results permit customized optimization by adapting successful food & beverage models for the pharma industry. Ideally, equipment manufacturers and suppliers of packaging, labels and closures should also be involved in the optimization process.
