Urban Barns Foods Canada Has Announced a Collaborative Research with McGill University

Urban Barns Foods Canada has announced a collaborative research with McGill University over Cubic Agriculture growing practices.

Urban Barns' Cubic Agriculture employs patent pending proprietary equipment to grow affordable vegetables in a secure and controlled indoor environmental condition.

The five-year project is aimed at further improving Urban Barns' Cubic Agriculture for the production of vegetable and fruit production in urban areas.

The project will focus on issues such as reducing the usuage of energy, choosing the right species and cultivars for this specific growing environment, and identifying the nutritional improvement of plants grown. It will also focus on lowering carbon footprint, minimizing water usage, recyclable product packaging, and nutrient recycling.

Urban Barns Foods Canada president Richard Groome said that the partnership is expected to further improve cycle times and crop yields, and increase the crop types that can be grown in the company's Cubic Farming systems.
