Think of 51, 000 Suvs Over Fuel-Gauge Problem

General Motors is recalling around 51,000 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia sport-utility vehicles (SUV) due to a possible fuel-gauge problem, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The agency said that the flawed engine-control module software could cause the fuel gauge to read inaccurately and result in stalled engines, increasing risk of a crash.

A statement from the company said, calibration in the vehicles' engine control module could result in inaccurate fuel-gauge readings by as much as one quarter of a tank.

To fix the problem, GM dealers will recalibrate the vehicles' fuel system.

The latest move comes after General Motors' recall of about seven million vehicles this year, including 2.6 million Chevrolet Cobalts, Saturn Ions and other variants over faulty ignition switches.
