Tempco Glass Fabrication opened operations in Queens, N.Y., to offer glass tempering, cutting, drilling and edge polishing to customers in New York City, Long Island and surrounding areas.
The new privately-held start-up firm is headed by General Manager Steven Powell, who brings to Tempco extensive glass fabrication, manufacturing and management experience. Prior to joining Tempco, Powell was General Manager for glass industry leader Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope in Hauppauge, N.Y. Powell also served as a manufacturing executive with United Steel Products and as a management consultant with the Mac Venture Group.
"Many of the small, mid-size and even large glass shops and glaziers in the New York metro area are underserved by the major glass fabricators," Powell said in the release. "It's Tempco's intention to provide those customers with the services other glass fabricators do not, at competitive prices."
Using new, modern state-of-the-art production equipment and techniques, Tempco will offer fast turnaround on virtually any size order, according to the release. The firm is in the process of installing equipment and outfitting its new factory at 131-10 Maple Avenue in Flushing, and expects to begin full operation early this spring.
