Abu Dhabi based National Catering Company (NCC) has signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi Ports to secure a 25,000-sqm plot of land in the Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad).
As part of this new development, NCC will invest around AED50m ($13.61m) in Kizad to set up its new central production unit, laboratories and warehousing logistics hub, along with a new headquarter.
The new production facility is expected to support NCC to expand its food processing business and its catering service provisions.
NCC CEO Tarek El Goweiny said: "By being located in Taweelah, right between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, we will significantly expand our reach to customers in both emirates and strengthen our market position.
"With our advanced technologies and increased storage capacity, the new production plant will give us the opportunity to further broaden our service offerings and deliver high quality products in line with international standards and the company's new strategy."
The new plant at Kizad is expected to start operations by fourth quarter of 2016.
With the new warehouse, NCC will be able to increase its storage capacity at Khalifa Industrial Zone as well as meet the requirements of its growing customer base. The company will also develop the new site as a new online delivery platform.
Abu Dhabi Ports CEO Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said: "By locating its new facilities in the industrial zone, NCC will be able to optimise its distribution activities and maximise supply chain efficiencies as a direct result of the industrial zone's excellent infrastructure and intermodal transportation networks."
