Sonoco-Alcore, the wholly owned subsidiary of global packaging company, Sonoco, will invest to make its system and product range energy efficient which is expected to be accomplished by September 2011.
To acheive its goals, the company is making a significant investment in three of its European uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) mills.
The mill in Cirie, Italy is expected to have a DCS, a new energy-from-biogas system, and the CHP is upgaded besides improvization of the effluent treatment system. The company is focused on lowering energy costs.
At Kilkis, Greece, the company plans to install a new high-efficiency boiler, heat recovery system that will significantly lower energy costs and provide capacity expansion.
At Nordhorn, Germany, the refining and press sections are upgraded to further reduce the steam and electricity consumption for each tonne of the high quality specialty board, the company said.
