AIDC Recently Held a Ceremony to Celebrate Its Delivery of The 200th Cockpit

Aerospace Industrial Development Corp.(AIDC),a state-run aircraft manufacturer in Taiwan, recently held a ceremony to celebrate its delivery of the 200th cockpit for the Sikorsky S-92 helicopter, witnessed by Sikorsky`s chief procurement officer Michael O`Connor and senior quality control officer Gary Crespi.

The cockpit, like others made by AIDC in Taiwan, will be shipped to Sikorsky`s factory in Pennsylvania for final assembly.

The S-92 helicopter is a medium transport helicopter with 22 seats.Sikorsky kicked off an international joint development and production project for the aircraft in 1995,and AIDC is a major partner in the project responsible for development, design, testing and manufacturing of the cockpits for the new model, the most advanced in Sikorsky`s product line.

At the ceremony,O`Connor praised AIDC`s superior capability in R&D,production quality, and project management.

With a very high cruise range and load capacity,S-92 has been winning increasing popularity in the international helicopter market. So far,Sikorsky has won about 300 orders for the model, and total outsourcing value to Taiwan is expected to outstrip US$7.5 billion(US$250 million).

AIDC said that it has been working hard to establish and expand a sound division-of-labor aerospace supply chain on the island, and will continue to outsource orders to local partners.
