Angus & Oink Introduces Guerrilla Brewing

Barbecue lifestyle firm Angus & Oink has launched Guerrilla Brewing, introducing three small batch beers to its product repertoire.

Currently, the company produces and sells hot sauces, rubs and a range of sausages. It has now joined hands with Drygate Brewing, a Glasgow based firm, to manufacture 700 of each beer.

The beers include Cocoa Chipotle Cartel, an oatmeal porter with chocolaty aroma and hint of chipotle chilli; Rio Passion Session; a refreshing IPA with a sensuous passion fruit finish; and Tomahawk Red Indian Pale Ale, which is made with Rye and Tomahawk hops.

The launch of the brewing company is part of Angus & Oink’s ongoing strategy to pair up food with beer.

Angus & Oink pitboss and co-owner Scott Fraser said: “The decision to launch Guerrilla Brewing is a natural progression for us. We are devoted to the BBQ culture of the Southern states of the US and South America and want to present an all-encompassing BBQ product experience to our customers.

“We realised that because of our time in South America, we could provide something no-one else could.

“We’d been there and lived there, eaten at the road side with our friends, eaten where the workers ate and where the more well-off ate. Our mission is flavour – combinations that bring the life of food into the lives of others.”

Fraser noted that Angus & Oink wanted to work with people who produce small batch beer and they were experimenting with beers with different flavours and combinations where importance for food around BBQ and street food is not lost.

Fraser said: “We’ve coined the phrase Guerrilla Brewing as we don’t brew ourselves; we’re small and lightweight as a company, able to move quickly and outside the rules.

“We’re able to brew with other beer producers and hope to develop our range with Drygate and other craft brewers in the future.”

Angus & Oink plans to debut the new beer range at the Scottish Home Show at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. The beers have been priced at £2.50.
