The show organisers of the four-yearly Ipex show said that Martell will chair the Ipex 360 Committee.
Informa said that the Committee will be a visitor focussed steering group that will see representatives from the whole value chain, including agencies, small to large print service providers and end users of print, meet in the coming months and advise on what it calls the successful delivery of the 2014 show.
The St Ives Group is a marketing and publishing specialist.
Organisers of the show have expressed disappointment in the last few months at seeing a number of big names pull out of the show. For example, HP, Roland DG and Heidelberg have all pulled out of the show.
'Must attend event'
Commenting on his appointment as Ipex 2014 president, Patrick Martell said: "It was an honour to be asked to undertake the role as Ipex President to support the Ipex 2014 organisers in delivering a world class 'must attend' event that meets the needs of visitors and exhibitors alike.

Martell joined St Ives Group in 1980. He was appointed a director of St Ives' book publishing arm, Clays, in 1994 and became its managing director in 2000. Appointed to the St Ives Group board in 2003, he has since held the positions of managing director Media Products and managing director – UK Operations. Patrick was appointed as the Group's chief executive in April 2009.
