Greco-Roman Period Womenswear Would Be Unveiled by Modahnik

The Modahnik Spring Summer 2013 Collection is designed for the woman who seeks pieces that are unique, sophisticated and wearable. The dresses and separates, made of silk chiffon and silk sateen, are mixed with bold geometric African-inspired prints with a colorful palette consisting of pink and berry.

The S/S 2013 Collection displays the solid craftsmanship and tailoring of Designer Kahindo Mateene. Pockets and fabric manipulation are just some of the fine details included in the collection.

Kahindo Mateene, the designer and founder, explains her S/S 2013 inspiration came from two of her favorite TV shows, Spartacus and Game of Thrones. “I really wanted to play around with draping that was prevalent in the Greco-Roman time period, and give it my unique modern spin,” stated Mateene.

Florodora and Vile & Valiant are the first two boutiques in Chicago to carry the Modahnik label.

Founded in 2009 by designer Kahindo Mateene, MODAHNIK is known for the mix of vibrant colors with bold prints. Having lived and traveled in Africa, Europe and America, Kahindo expertly combines these different stylistic elements, bringing a unique point of view to her design aesthetic. A native of the The Democratic Republic of Congo, she pulls inspiration from the Avant Garde spirit of the Congolese art and culture.

MODAHNIK has been featured in WWD, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Sun-Times, and Refinery 29 and on runways in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Johannesburg.
