Bookbinder to Change Spice Profile of Pepper Pot Soup in Response to Consumer Demand

US-based Bookbinder Specialties is changing the spice profile of Pepper Pot Soup, in response to consumer demand.

Bookbinder's Pepper Pot Soup is a hearty, thick, spicy, tomato-based stew with cod fish, carrots, onions, and macaroni. According to the company, it is changing the profile of the soup to "increase the heat."

Bookbinder Specialties New Business Development manager Colin O'Neil said that the company always focuses on new methods to improve its products.

"We hope that Pepper Pot lovers will be more satisfied with this new taste profile and recognize our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction," added O'Neil.

The Pepper Pot Soup was initially produced by the Campbell's Soup, but was discontinued in 2010. However, Bookbinder Specialties has relaunched the product in 2011 with its own signature flare of seafood, in response to the consumer demand.

Bookbinder Specialties offers a full line of gourmet seafood soups, including Lobster Bisque, Clam Chowders, Crab Bisque, Oyster Stew, Shrimp Bisque and more.

The soup, which is semi-condensed and packaged in a 10.5oz can, will bear a best used by date of July 2016 or later. Bookbinder's Pepper Pot Soup is carried in many Acme Markets in the greater Philadelphia area, and will be added to Demoulas' Market Basket stores in New England. The revised flavor will be in regional grocery stores later this month.
