Con-Way Freight Is The LTL Carrier to Announce It's Increasing Rates

Con-way Freight is the latest less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier to announce it’s increasing rates.

Come March 31, the company will raise its general rate by about 5.4 percent, which will be applicable to non-contractual business.

The rate increase will apply to general LTL rates, minimum charges and accessorial or supplemental fees for special services associated with LTL shipments moving within the U.S. and Canada, as well as cross-border shipments moving between the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.

The effect of the rate increase will vary for individual customers and shipments based on characteristics such as geography, lane, product classification, weight and dimensions, according to the Michigan-based company.

The move follows UPS Freight saying it will increase rates 4.4 percent on March 31 and FedEx planning a 3.9-percent hike the same day. ABF plans to raise its rates by 5.4 percent on March 24.
