Holista Foods, Wing's Partner to Develop Low-Gi Noodles

Holista Foods, a US subsidiary of Holista CollTech, has partnered with a major North American noodle manufacturer Wing’s Food Products to carry out joint research to develop the world’s first low-Glycemic Index(low-GI) noodles.

Under the partnership, Wing’s will test Holista’s low-GI ingredient PANATURA for use in noodles, while Holista will offer its expertise on the application of the formula, FoodIngredientsFirst.com reported.

PANATURA, a breakthrough natural formula developed by Holista, helps in reducing blood sugar levels when it added to white flour, without altering the taste of the final product.

Based in Ontario and Alberta, Canada, Wing’s has been supplying noodles to the North American market since 1953.

The companies will carry out an independent testing of the final product at GI-Labs, a nutrition research organization in Toronto, Canada.

Upon validation, Wing’s and Holista Foods will reach a commercial agreement to manufacture and distribute the low-GI noodles in North America.

Holista Foods is a joint-venture company set-up between Holista and Nadja Foods.

Wing’s CEO Neal Lee was quoted by the publication as saying: “We are excited with the possibility to develop the world’s first low-GI noodle with a company that is at the cutting edge of the low-GI movement, Holista Foods. North American consumers are becoming more accustomed to Asian tastes and the noodle business is growing steadily from year to year.

“There is strong demand for a low-GI noodle product and we believe it will have a meaningful impact on consumers here.”
