JFE Steel Agrees a Joint Venture to Build New Pipes Plant in China

It’s reported that the Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel has announced to agree a joint venture with Marubeni-Itochu Steel and Shuan Hwa Industrial to build new pipes plant in China.

The new pipes plant will be able to produce carbon steel small-diameter electric resistance welded pipes and cold drawn steel pipes for automotive industry. Meanwhile, the new company, Jianxiang JFE Precision Steel Pipe Co, has designed a monthly production capacity of 2,000 tons and it expects to start operating in January 2015. In addition, the joint venture will effect October this year and it will be held 36% by JFE Steel, 15% by Kawasaki Kokan, 30% by Marubeni-Itochu and 19% by Shuan Hwa respectively.
