EMS provider Lite-On Technology will expend production capacity for camera modules by 20-30% and PC keyboards by 20% by adding equipment and increasing automation, according to company CEO Warren Chen.
For the capacity expansion, Lite-On plans to set aside a capex budget of more than NT$3 billion (US$103 million) for 2013, slightly more than in 2012, Chen said.
Lite-On reached global market shares of over 30% for notebook camera modules and nearly 10% for PC keyboards in 2012, Chen indicated. For LED devices, Lite-On has become a supplier for several international LED lighting vendors and expects to obtain orders from new clients in Europe and the US in 2013, Chen said. Lite-On's subsidiary Leotek Electronics has led among Taiwan-based makers in LED street lamp shipments to the US, Chen said.
Lite-On had 2012 consolidated revenues of NT$121.45 billion increasing 2% from 2011, and expects increased orders for power supplies used in servers and networking/communication equipment, camera modules and PC keyboards to drive growth of at least 10% in 2013.
