Automobile major Skoda has developed a slew of apps. including SmartGate and SmartLink apps, capable of displaying certain data of the vehicle on the smartphone or tablet covering a spectrum of 40 different parameters.
While SmartLink runs on infotainment system screen, SmartGate offers vehicle data, such as fuel economy, drive dynamics and servicing, on phone. Such data could be shared via social media.
The distance travelled on a map can also be saved, while the journey list could be preserved on ?koda Drive Portal, from which the data could be managed and put into useful statistics and graphs.
While the data are transferred wirelessly, the apps are compatible with Android, iOS (Apple) and Windows Phone.
The Skoda Service App can be used during emergency situations.
While the Skoda G-Meter App assesses driving behavior from G value, acceleration, speed, engine revs, brake actuation, gearshifts and accelerator pedal pressure are displayed, it warns the driver when a predetermined value is exceeded.
The Skoda MFA-Pro App is capable of turning smartphone into an extended on-board computer.
The Skoda MotorSound App also simulates the engine sound of the vehicle, deriving from the analyzed accelerator pedal and engine revolution data.
Currently, the Skoda Fabia, Octavia, Rapid, Rapid Spaceback, Yeti and Superb provide systems for in-car networking with smartphone or tablet.
