Purity Bakeries, in collaboration with the United Nations Food & Agricultural Organisation and the BADMC, have developed, formulated and introduced an exciting new loaf, using fresh grated cassava blended meticulously into our Junior Bran & White sandwich loaves.
These loaves boast of a 40% reduction in gluten, substantially higher fibre and all the natural goodness of cassava.
This is a dynamic project which is gradually developing the agricultural sector in Barbados, encouraging farmers to plant cassava while providing a mature commercial avenue for sale of this crop. Additionally, the Barbados model will be used as a guide for development in the Caribbean region.
Ultimately, Purity Bakeries will produce a wide range of cassava blended products including hamburger buns, hotdog rolls in addition to gluten free cakes & pastries including a gluten free Great Cake.
