Private equity firm North Castle Partners has acquired controlling stake in Sprout Organic Foods in a move to bolster its presence in the natural and organic nutrition industry.
Sprout Organic Foods primarily serves the baby / toddler market with organic foods. It offers a wide range of products including whole grain oatmeal and brown rice, fruits, peach pumpkin pie, ginger chicken, vegetables with roasted turkey, vegetables with chicken, multi-grain cereal, lentils and carrots, roasted root vegetables and vegetable and potato stew with beef.
Sprout's products are claimed to contain no water-reconstituted concentrates, fillers, preservatives and acidifiers.
North Castle Partners managing director Alison Minter said: "We are excited about the Sprout acquisition as our latest Nutrition platform that addresses the needs of today's consumers.
"The organic baby food category is an attractive market with strong underlying fundamentals. Sprout is a strong brand that resonates with retailers and consumers, with a product portfolio that has meaningful competitive differentiation."
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Earlier this year, North Castle Partners divested better-for-you flatbreads and flatbread products manufacturer Flatout to T. Marzetti Company.
