Irish brewer Guinness has created an Indian Pale Ale beer with nitrogenation effect, a balance of flavor and aroma, and a creamy taste with dense bubbles.
Made in Dublin, the Guinness Nitro IPA is brewed with Irish barley malt, roasted barley and comes in five hop varieties namely Admiral, Celeia, Topaz, Challenger and Cascade. Among these, Challenger, Cascade and Topaz are dry-hopped to give a sharp citrus aroma.
The blends of carbon dioxide and nitrogen helps in balancing out the abundance of hop flavours, while also offering the surge and settle that is present in Guinness Draught.
The Nitro IPA is brewed using the same yeast strain that is used to ferment all stouts at St. James's Gate.
The creator of the beer recipe Luis Ortega said, "We aimed to make a balanced, smooth beer. Guinness perfected nitrogenated beer more than 60 years ago, so we believed we could really add something new to the style. There's plenty of hoppy flavor, with citrus aroma to the fore, but the nitrogen rounds it all out. The mouthfeel is fantastic, and the use of Guinness yeast gives it an echo of the character of our famous stouts."
Developed by The Brewers Project, Guinness Nitro IPA is available in a six pack of 11.2 oz. cans, with a suggested retail price of $8.99 and 13.2G kegs.
Guinness Nitro IPA is available at stores nationwide and on tap in select bars across the country. The beer has an ABV of 5.8% and 44 IBUs.
