Buen Sabor today announced that eight brand new, all-natural products are now available in the frozen food aisle in major retail locations across the country.
The first-of-its-kind line of ready-made meals celebrates the diverse cuisine of Latin America, while utilizing the freezer for convenience and to preserve them in the most all-natural way.
"Buen Sabor products offer a convenient way to discover both old and new flavors of Latin American cultures, in a way that is exciting for today's modern, health-conscious consumer," shared Yvette Marquez-Sharpnack, Author of Muy Bueno cookbook and Founder of MuyBuenoCookbook.com. "These unique dishes offer those that crave Latin American cuisine something flavorful and attainable that no other food company has been able to do."
Each new entree leverages traditional dishes, but infuses new flavors and culinary techniques to offer something entirely innovative. For example, the Pastelon de Pavo Picante y Lentejas (Spicy Turkey and Lentil Pastelon) is a comforting, one-dish meal of ripe plantains and turkey picadillo inspired from Puerto Rico and the Dominican. Other new dishes include:
Arroz Con Queso y Trocitos de Chorizo (Savory Chorizo Seasoned Rice with Cheese)Arroz Con Calabaza Anco y Chiles Poblanos (Savory Rice with Squash and Poblano Peppers)Arroz Con Trocitos De Pollo Chipotle Frijoles (Savory Rice with Chipotle Chicken and BeansEmpanadas de Picadillo de Carne de Res (Beef Picadillo Empanadas)Empanadas de Platano y Queso (Plantain and Cheese Empanadas)Picadillo de Garbanzos y Comote (Chickpea and Sweet Potato Picadillo)Tamal de Cazuela de Pollo en Pipian Rojo (Baked Tamal with Chicken and Pipian Sauce)
From the carne to the frijoles, tremendous time and effort goes into selecting the best ingredients that Buen Sabor uses to cook up its dishes, as well as the partners that help supply them. Only the cleanest, all-natural ingredients with a clear 'story' are considered. Through its Taste Trace initiative, Buen Sabor believes it can serve as the connection between responsible food producers and farmers and the retail shelf. Taste Trace encourages consumers to visit www.Buen-Sabor.com/TasteTrace to learn exactly where the ingredients come from.
"We are passionate about creating all-natural and traditionally inspired Latin food for busy people and offering customers a chance at discovering something new. We are going beyond the burrito, because there is simply so much more to Latin American cuisine than what is currently offered in stores," offered Sarah Pike, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Buen Sabor.
Buen Sabor launched in 2014 and is moving fast to stake claim to this new category: Offering consumers authentic, all-natural Latin American cuisine with a modern, fresh twist. With the growing explosion of Hispanic influence on American culture and cuisine, and four out of five consumers considering nutrition, natural/organic or sustainability when buyingi, Buen Sabor is the first company to offer such a wide assortment of great tasting, authentic, natural Hispanic food. A world class team of CPG executives with experience driving success at Kashi, PepsiCo, Hain and Pinnacle Foods Group are working closely with a team of the Hispanic chefs to cook up truly inventive foods.
"Buen Sabor has captured a space in the specialty food category that will make them an industry leader," said Andy Heyer Chief Executive Officer and a Managing Director of Mistral Equity Partners, former Hain Chairman, and a personal investor in Buen Sabor. "The support they have received from those that know the food industry well is an indication of the opportunity they have seized."
"They are on track to completely redefine the category, and with its first line of affordable and convenient dishes, will show consumers that they can expect more of ready-made Latin American cuisine," shared Andreas Guldin, Chief Executive Officer of Emil Capital Partners, and a lead investor in the company.
The first eight Buen Sabor products are now available in 32 states in many retail locations nationwide. Plans are in place to rapidly expand retail locations and product offerings.
