German automobile major Opel has revamped its soft-top cabriolet Cascada with new turbo diesel engine found in models such as Insignia and Zafira Tourer.
The four-seater vehicle with the soft-top, capable of opening in 17 seconds while belting down the road at speed up to 50km/h, flaunts an acoustic and thermal insulation for an all-season comfort.
Opel Group sales and aftersales vice-president Peter Christian Küspert said: "The Opel Cascada is a mid-size cabriolet with premium features and quality for an extremely attractive price. With the new engine that is part of our extensive powertrain offensive, cabriolet fans now get an engine that sets standards in this class in terms of refinement, power development and consumption."
Besides, the two-liter turbo diesel engine, recently put in Insignia and Zafira Tourer, has a specification of 125 kW/170 hp four-cylinder unit with 400 Nm torque.
Three new colors - True Blue, Rocky Coast and Coconut also contribute to the novelty of the variant.
As against its predecessor, the engine is claimed to offer 14% more torque without compromising economical output.
Armed with six-speed manual transmission, the open-air cruiser puts up a performance of just 4.9 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle with the emission of 129g/km CO2.
While the Cascada zooms to 100km/h in 10.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 218km/h, the transition from 80 to 120km/h in fifth gear takes 9.3 seconds.
The 2.0 CDTI engine also deploys selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, while the BlueInjection feature helps remove nitrogen oxide from the exhaust gases.
