Bus manufacturer Iveco Bus, a brand of CNH Industrial, has won a €50m vehicle supply contract from Baku, Azerbaijan.
The contract is for supply of 151 units of compressed natural gas (CNG) powered Crealis buses to offer services at the upcoming Pan-European Games that will be hosted by Azerbaijan in June 2015.
All the vehicles will be manufactured at the Iveco Bus factory in Annonay, France, and will be powered by the Iveco CNG Cursor 8 engine produced in Bourbon-Lancy.
Crealis buses come with low flat floor facilitates to allow easier entry and exit for all passengers as well as offer better accessibility for users with reduced mobility.
According to the company, the Iveco Cursor 8 engine in the buses does not need a particulate filter due to its stoichiometric combustion process.
The engine technology complies with the Euro VI emissions regulations. The use of CNG Cursor 8 engine has reduced the sound emissions by half leading in lower vibrations at all engine speeds.
