Gameloft and Fox Digital Entertainment, a division of 20th Century Fox Filmed Entertainment, have today announced an exclusive partnership to launch a new game for the upcoming animated adventure EPIC. From Blue Sky Studios, the creators of the beloved ICE AGE series and the hit film RIO, this 3D animated adventure will take audiences on an amazing and magical journey through a secret world of hilarious creatures, visually spectacular locations and incredible aerial battles. The ground-breaking, photo-real animation in the film will make audiences wonder if this hidden world might really exist…perhaps even in their own backyard. The highly anticipated animated film, EPIC, begins its worldwide theatrical rollout May 15, 2013, with the film's U.S. release taking place on May 24, 2013.
"We are thrilled to be working again with Fox Digital Entertainment and Blue Sky Studios to bring their latest animated adventure to smartphone and tablet gamers," says Gonzague De Vallois, Gameloft's Senior Vice President of Publishing. "The great success of our prior partnership, Ice Age Village, which has been downloaded over 50 Million times to date, is a testament to the amazing animated worlds Blue Sky Studios creates, and that we are proud to bring to gamers."
Players will find themselves magically transported into the secret universe of the Jinn and Boggans, whose battle lies at the heart of EPIC. There, they will interact with characters from the movie, grow and nurture their own forest kingdom, and fight back against the Boggan blight in action-packed battles filled with acrobatic and elegant combat, all presented through beautiful 3D visuals and animations.
"The game will be a noteworthy compliment to the upcoming film. Fans will be able to engage with the characters and world of Epic in an adventure game for phones and tablets," said Rick Phillips, Senior Vice President of Mobile for Fox Digital Entertainment. "Gameloft has done a superb job bringing Blue Sky Studios' vision to life for gaming fans around the world."
This marks the second official game partnership between Gameloft and Fox Digital Entertainment for a Blue Sky Studios film. Ice Age Village, first launched in April 2012 has been played by over 50 Million people around the world on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices.
Epic will be available on smartphones and tablets worldwide this May, in time for the film's theatrical release.
