Chinese food manufacturer American Lorain has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of a new breakfast product line - Lorain Youtiao.
The launch comes in response to increasing consumer demand for on-the-go breakfast and forms a part of the company's starategy of taking its Lorain brand into high margin snack food segment.
A Youtiao, also known as Fried Dough Sticks, is a long golden-brown strip of fried dough and a staple item of Chinese breakfasts.
American Lorain claims to use ingredients sourced from reputable and well-known suppliers and employ advanced production techniques to create a contaminant-free processing environment for making the new Youtiao product line.
The finished products will be supplied through the company's cold chain logistics distribution network at -18°C (-0.4°F).
American Lorain chairman and CEO Si Chen said: "Youtiao is a very popular traditional Chinese breakfast food but it can be difficult to prepare quickly.
"The Lorain Youtiao can be conveniently prepared at home in the oven or microwave, so we believe it will provide a quick and easy breakfast option to many Chinese looking for a tasty meal on-the-run.
"This is a great way for us to enter the Chinese breakfast market and we believe it will greatly impact our long-term revenue and profit growth."
The company is also working with domestic distributors to launch its new products into supermarkets, fast-food restaurant chains, hotels and convenience stores.
