PTI quoted amid multiple woes facing the power sector,country's largest private electricity producer TATA Power said that concerted efforts are required from all stakeholders to tackle the problems.
A raft of issues,dominated by fuel scarcity and poor health of electricity distribution companies,continued to hurt the power sector this year.
Mr Anil Sardana MD of TATA Power in a statement said that"Energy is the engine that drives the economy and it is in the interest of the country's economic development that the sector is given its due importance".
Mr Sardana said that"There is a need for concerted effort from all the stakeholders towards mitigation of some of the key obstacles hindering the growth of the sector."
He said that the power sector went through a lot of turbulence this year.
He added that"Growing focus on distributed power generation and trading of REC in energy exchanges are amongst some of the developments that can usher positive changes in the energy scenario of the country going forward."
TATA Power,which is developing the 4,000 MW Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project in Gujarat,is grappling with adverse impact of pricier imported coal for the plant.
