German automaker Volkswagen Group has announced its plans to unveil the new Passat Saloon and Estate vehicles in July 2014.
The new 4MOTION all-wheel drive Passat will be powered by 2L four-cylinder bi-turbo diesel engine paired to a new seven-speed DSG gearbox offering an output of 240ps and 500Nm at 1,750 rpm.
The vehicle will also be offered as a plug-in hybrid model with only battery power transit range of 31miles and a potential maximum range of around 600miles.
Passat will include a range of new technologies and features such as Active Info Display with 12.3in TFT display, the Modular Infotainment System including the Car-Net remote app, a 360-degree area view function and the new park assist.
Volkswagen has used advanced materials such as high-strength steel and aluminium in manufacture of the vehicle that helped it reduce the weight of vehicle by 85kg compared to its predecessor, making it possible to increase fuel-efficiency by about 20%.
Safety technologies in the vehicle will include side assist with rear traffic alert, traffic jam assist, emergency assist, and the front assist system with city emergency braking.
Additionally, the new Passat will feature LED tail lights, dynamic light assist that helps one of the two LED headlight options to automatically adjust the beam for maximum illumination of the road without dazzling other traffic.
