BLACKWOOD, NJ, February 19, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This spring, SWDTech will begin development on its first of many retro Role-Playing Games (RPGs) sure to interest and inspire casual and hardcore gamers alike.
Pixel Noir is a retro, 16-bit era RPG with a strong emphasis on story, and a feel reminiscent of classic film noir.
"There are cops gone bad, double-crosses, and frame-ups - all the classic elements of a gritty detective story, but with the added challenge of a protagonist who can't trust what he sees," says SWDTech lead writer Jennifer Keating.
Pixel Noir is sure to remind old-school gamers of the games they played in their younger years.
"There are very few retro-style RPGs that have aged with gamers who grew up playing classic RPGs, such Earthbound and Final Fantasy. These gamers are 20 or 30-somethings that are looking for an atmospheric game with great gameplay and a story that's not sugarcoated for children," says SWDTech co-owner Kunal Majmudar.
SWDTech is releasing Pixel Noir for iOS and Andriod devices, and it will be soon available for consoles, PCs and Macs.
Now more than ever, indie video games on consoles and smartphones are the hottest item on the market, and a surefire bet for investors.
"This is something that AAA companies, such as Sega or Nintendo are not able to easily do," says Majmudar. "AAA companies are often large and unwieldy, and investors have an amazing opportunity to invest modest amounts in indie developers and reap huge returns on their investments. This is an exciting, dynamic market for the savvy investor."
