Amorim has seen a continuation of the uphill trend in turnover shown last year in practically all business divisions in the first quarter of 2012 as well. In this vein, the Floor & Wall Coverings business unit (BU), which integrates all of the company's floor-covering operations, booked a hike in turnover of 15% to €33.3m. This comes on the heels of a 6% increase in 2011 as a whole. The rise in turnover between January and March was attributed by Amorim primarily to higher shipments. According to the company, both shipments of its own timber and cork flooring products as well as shipments of trade goods increased, with growth being especially pronounced in LVT flooring. When it comes to the different sales regions, Amorim reports growth in North America, Eastern Europe, and China, in particular, whereas sales in Central Europe remained comparatively weak.
