New York City-based fashion jeans maker DL1961 Premium Denim Inc. has launched a denim line featuring Austria-based Lenzing AG's ProModal® blend of Lenzing Modal® and Tencel® cellulosic staple fibers derived from beech and eucalyptus trees. DL1961 has exclusive regional rights to use ProModal in its products, which are offered at retail in stores including Bloomingdales, Harvey Nichols, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and ShopBop.com.
The ProModal collection, to be introduced for Spring/Summer 2013, also features power stretch LYCRA® dualFX™ fabric technology to ensure 99-percent shape retention. It will be offered in several popular styles and select maternity styles in basic blue as well as several spring trend colors.
ProModal properties include 50-percent greater absorbency and four times greater softness compared with cotton, light weight, suppleness, and a silky sheen. Environmental benefits touted by Lenzing include six times greater fiber yield per acre and 10 to 20 times lower water consumption compared with cotton cultivation.
