Jaguar Introduces Bomb Proof Range Rover Sentinel

British automaker Jaguar Land Rover has introduced Range Rover Sentinel, which is equipped with features that can protect the SUV against a wide variety of bullet fire and blasts.

The SUV is based on the company's other flagship Range Rover Autobiography and it has been engineered by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) at its Oxford Road facility.

The car can withstand some of the most dangerous situations including 15kg Trinitrotoluene (TNT) blasts, DM51 grenade explosions from both beneath the floor and above the roof, armour piercing incendiary bullets, and penetration by 7.62mm high velocity.

Jaguar has used super-high-strength steel to develop six-piece armoured passenger cell, and multi-laminated armour privacy glass which offers clarity and bullet protection for the driver and occupants.

To offer complete protection to the passengers, the company has also added Emergency Escape System behind the rear seats to allow passengers to escape in case of an attack through the main doors.

Along with the special security feature, the basic design is uncompromised. It offers comfort with ample legroom similar to that offered by standard model, comfortably seats two full-size adults in the rear, and payload of up to 650kg.

Jaguar has equipped the SUV with special 20-inch split rim alloy wheels, which makes driving possible even if the tires are deflated.

Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations managing director John Edwards said: "The Range Rover Sentinel is one of the most extraordinary Range Rovers ever produced.

"It has been expertly engineered by Special Vehicle Operations to provide class leading levels of protection to occupants against extreme attack, whilst retaining the Range Rover's luxury and refinement with off road capability."
