The sales of new vehicles in Malaysia declined 6.3% in April, when compared to the same period in 2011, according to a report.
The Malaysian Automotive Association reported that the country has sold 47,736 new cars during the period, when compared to 50,936 units in 2011, while has reported 20% rise in total production to 44,828 units from 37,353 units in 2011.
About 39,634 units of passenger cars were production in April 2012, when compared to 34,132 units in 2011 and commercial car production rose to 5,194 cars from earlier registered 3,221 in last April.
The report also revealed that the car sales in the first quarter declined 11% to 186,280 units from 209,368 vehicles reported during the same period in 2011, while vehicle production also decreased 2.6% to 186,787 units when compared to 191,767 units produced in 2011.
According to the report, sales volume in Malaysia during April 2012 was 5,847 units or 10.9 % lower than the volume in March 2012.
Malaysia is expecting an improvement in its sales volume for May due to further unveiling of new models during the month.
