Infiniti has unveiled its new 2019 QX50 mid-size crossover, which is built on an all-new platform, featuring a front-engine, front-wheel-drive-based layout.
The engineering design of the vehicle offers new standards of refinement and interior space in the compact crossover segment.
It is powered by a VC-Turbo engine, which is claimed to be the world’s first production-ready variable compression ratio engine.
The 2.0 liter engine has the capacity to adjust its compression ratio to optimize power and efficiency. It can combine the turbocharged gasoline engine with torque and efficiency of a four cylinder diesel engine.
Infiniti said that the engine is a much better alternative to diesel and it challenges the notion that only hybrid and diesel powertrains can deliver high torque and efficiency.
The 2019 QX50 closely resembles the QX Sport Inspiration and comes with an aerodynamic exterior, which combines its signature design language.
The 2019 QX50 features ProPILOT Assist technology which can help to react discreetly to certain driving situations and can support the driver with a range of driver assist features.
Infiniti global division vice president Christian Meunier said: "The 2019 QX50 is the most important vehicle we have ever launched, and it embodies everything the brand stands for: Beautiful design, advanced technology and empowering performance.
“As a luxury mid-size crossover, it's the right vehicle at the right time in one of the world's fastest growing segments."
