Samsung Just Launched The J1 Mini Prime 4-Inch Smartphone

After a few leaks, and no official announcement, Samsung has made its J1 Mini Prime 4-inch smartphone available in the US.

The new handset is now available to buy through Amazon and eBay in the States, and can be picked up for a very reasonable $89.99 (about £72).

Samsung was expected to unveil the J1 Mini Prime by the end of December, but it seems the phone has made it to launch without a proper announcement.

The handset itself looks similar to the Galaxy J1 from earlier this year, and features a 4-inch TFT screen with a 480 x 800 resolution, which equates to a 233ppi density.

That's a pretty small display for any smartphone, let alone one from big-name phone-maker Samsung, but at least the low resolution won't be so noticeable on such a tiny screen.

Elsewhere, the phone comes packing a Spreadtrum SC9830 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, alongside 1GB of RAM, and just 8GB of internal memory – luckily, that memory is expandable through the use of a microSD card.

There's also a VGA front-facing camera with a 5-megapixel rear camera that comes with an LED flash, and powering the whole thing is a suitably small 1,500mAh battery.

And despite the low-end hardware, the phone is at least somewhat up to date in terms of software, coming with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

US customers can pick up the device in a choice of three different colour options: black, gold, or white – all of which are the same price.

We're not expecting the J1 Mini Prime to make it to the UK at this point, though Samsung hasn't exactly been forthcoming about its plans for the device.
