Algerian oil production in April averaged some 1.2 million b/d, in line with the country's obligations under OPEC's current production ceiling, a senior official at state-owned Sonatrach said Wednesday.
Speaking on the sidelines of an industry event in London, Sonatrach director general Omar Maaliou told Platts Algerian output was steady and that there had been no hike in production in recent months.
"Our OPEC 'quota' is 1.2 million b/d -- we stick to that," Maaliou said. Asked if Algeria had exported more Saharan Blend in the last month, Maaliou said: "Not particularly, no."
"We export what we produce," he said.
There was speculation recently in the industry that Algeria had been able to raise exports of Saharan Blend over the past months.
