Flowers Foods to Reopen Brands' Bakery Facility Flowers Baking of Henderson in Nevada

Flowers Foods, a US-based baking company, is set to reopen Hostess Brands' bakery facility, Flowers Baking of Henderson in Henderson, Nevada, by 2013-end.

The bakery was shut in November 2012 as part of Old HB's liquidation process, which led to 18,500 job losses.

Flowers Foods gained control of the Henderson bakery plant and other former Hostess assets in July 2013.

On commencing production, Henderson bakery will operate as a subsidiary of Flowers Foods with 60 employees. It will produce Nature's Own bread brand for markets in southern Nevada and parts of California.

Flowers Foods president and CEO Allen L Shiver said, "As we've said since acquiring the Hostess assets this past summer, our plan is to open bakeries as we need additional production capacity to meet market demand."

"Henderson is strategically located to help us continue to build market presence in this region," Shiver added.
