The busses, which will be powered by Navistar's MaxxForce 7 engines, will have a seating capacity of 65 passengers each.
Production of the new buses will take place at the IC Bus assembly plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the US, and the deliveries are scheduled to commence in July 2013.
IC Bus president John McKinney said: "IC Bus is proud to partner with Columbus City Schools and we look forward to helping them with their student transportation needs for the next school year."
Other features of the buses include the 16-gauge steel side sheets and 19,800lb rear axle with a 21,000lb air ride suspension.
The manufacturer said it will deliver the buses through its Ohio based dealer, Rush Bus Centers.
