Michelin Americas Truck Tires, a division of Michelin North America, has introduced next generation wide-base single trailer tire, approved by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay, to be utilized in regional operations.
The new tire, called as 455/55R22.5 MICHELIN X One MultiTM Energy T, is touted to offer reduction in irregular wear and promote fuel economy, empowering fleets to transport over 700 pounds of additional freight versus dual applications.
Michelin deals with tires for airplanes, automobiles, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks and motorcycles. It has also added two sizes - 375/425 and 385/435 - for MICHELIN X One Multi Energy T Pre-Mold.
Michelin Americas Truck Tires director Bianca Hogan said: "Whether in its first life or as a retread, the MICHELIN X One Multi Energy T offers the right balance of fuel efficiency, weight savings and long tread life in regional applications.
"The latest X One introductions continue our leadership in wide-base single innovation and provide an attractive total cost of ownership throughout the tire lifecycle."
The trailer retread is also said to be SmartWay-verified and flaunts Advanced Technology Compounds, enabling a 7% reduction in case of rolling resistance. The retread also has 15/32nds tread depth, apart from microsipes and a solid shoulder to withstand irregular wear.
