Cartwright Secured Contract to Deliver 21 Ambulances to The Yorkshire Ambulance Service

UK based vehicle manufacturer Cartwright has secured contract to deliver 21 ambulances to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service in England.

The vehicles will be A&E Ambulances from Cartwright's Taurus Range and will be based on a Mercedes Sprinter 4.6t super single van option that changes the rear axle from a twin wheel rear axle to a single wheel.

According to the manufacturer, the conversion expands space inside the ambulance in order to accommodate two crew members, one stretchered patient and about two additional seated patients or passengers.

Cartwright Blue Light development engineer Wes Linton said, "We currently produce 80 to 100 units per week and our objective is to be a leading high volume manufacturer in the ambulance sector with European Whole Vehicle Type Approval within the next 18 months."

Design of the vehicle is claimed to be a combination of form and function depending on the customers' requirements and meets both the clinical as well as aesthetic needs, while fulfilling the CEN 1789 European safety standards for the construction of ambulances.
