General Motors (GM) is investing $290m in its Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, US to carry out upgrades at the facility.
The investment will modify the faciliity's vehicle assembly operations with new technologies and processes.
The modifications are being made in conjunction with and in addition to the construction and startup of the earlier unveiled $439m paint shop investment.
Of the new $290m investment, $153m has been included in an application to participate in the Kentucky Business Incentive (KBI).
Facility enhancements, which are expected to start this summer, include technology upgrades and manufacturing process improvements.
GM started production of the Corvette at the Bowling Green plant in 1981, and the facility has remained the exclusive home of the Corvette for more than 30 years.
Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin said: "For 35 years, the Bowling Green Assembly Plant has provided jobs to thousands of Kentuckians and to hundreds of suppliers and vendors.
"We congratulate GM and offer our commitment to lending them support for this project and any others they may undertake in the future."
GM North American Manufacturing Manager Arvin Jones said: "We are making technology investments that will continue to improve our manufacturing processes and ultimately the quality of our vehicles.
"We are putting Corvette customers first by building upon our world-class manufacturing process."
Prior to Bowling Green, Corvette was manufactured at plants in Flint, Michigan and St. Louis in Missouri.
