Chinese automotive firm JAC Motors has geared up to take the wraps off its mini SUV S3, powered by 1.5L VVT engine generating top speed of 175km/h, in Chile in the middle of next month.
The new avatar, which was rolled out of JAC Motors stable in August last year in China, is currently available in stores in Costa Rica and Paraguay in South America.
Following its unveiling in Chile, the other countries in the pipeline include Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay and Colombia.
The design of S3, which flaunts overall dimensions of 4325mmx1765mmx1660mm, along with a wheelbase of 2560mm, was conceived on the drawing boards at the company's R&D center in Italy.
The engine, capable of fueling torque 146Nm and power 83Kw, can be coupled with a CVT or 6MT transmission.
The specification of the new variant also includes ESP (Electronic Stability Control) system, EPAS (Electronic Power Advanced Steering) and HAS (Hill-start Assist Control), along with 6 SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) Airbags, ISOfix (International Standards Organization FIX), TPMS and ESP (Electronic Stability Program) among others.
JAC, which has set up its overseas research and development center in Turin, Italy, and a second in Tokyo, Japan, offers light, medium and heavy trucks, sedans, MPV, SRV, buses, chassis, engineering machinery, engines, and gearboxes under its product lineup. It is credited with making over 1,000,000 automobiles and 800,000 engines a year.
