China based automobile manufacturer Jianghuai Automobile Company (JAC Motors) has signed electric vehicle (EV) supply agreement with US based GreenTech Automotive (GTA) in Shanghai.
Under the deal, JAC will deliver 2000 units of third generation pure EVs in order to develop the US electric vehicle market with environmental-friendly electric vehicles.
JAC claims to have increased the battery capacity of EVs from 15kWh to 19kWh and the driving range per charge on urban roads by 30% from 100km to 130km.
The EVs feature improved indicators including total battery energy, distance per charge, maximum speed, acceleration, climbing performance and operation stability.
Features of the EVs include the braking energy recovery function that can convert the kinetic energy produced during braking, acceleration and sliding down slopes to electric energy and increase the distance per charge by 5% to 10%.
Compared with the second generation, the third generation is claimed to integrate the functions of braking energy recovery and remote monitoring.
In February 2013, JAC had exported a pure electric vehicle to the US for testing and performance inspections, following which the agreement was formally signed.
The automobile manufacturer has sold over 4,000 pure EVs during 2010-2012.
