Faraday Future Breaks Ground on $1bn Electric Car Plant in Nevada, US

Faraday Future, a start-up in the field of electric vehicles and a rival to Tesla Motors has broken ground on its $1bn manufacturing plant near in North Las Vegas, Nevada, US.

The electric carmaker said the investment will not only go into plant and equipment but will go into nurturing their vision for future mobility.

Construction of the plant will begin in month's time and the company has started hiring for several positions, out of 4500 to be hired in the plant.

Faraday Future also said that the new facility will be powered using renewable power from solar, wind and geothermal sources, as part of their environmentally conscious effort.

It says that the plant will be instrumental in helping build its flagship vehicle, construct a cooperative fleet of vehicles that will pioneer a new model of vehicle ownership.

Faraday Future global manufacturing vice president, Dag Reckhorn said: "This first plant will be a truly modern workspace, offering a clean, open air environment, ergonomic arrangements, and an encouraged interactivity between employees and visitors.

"This will make for a brand new, cutting-edge west coast hub for the EV industry."

The US based Faraday Future was launched in 2014 and focuses on developing intelligent electric vehicles and mobility solutions.

From the date of establishment until now, Faraday Future has employed more than 750 people globally and is working towards bringing out their first commercial electric car.

The company is backed by Chinese billionaire Jia Yueting, founder and CEO and LeTV and sources say that Yueting is the one to offer financial support to FF in the construction of the facility in Las Vegas.

Faraday Future had unveiled its first concept car, 'FFZERO1 Concept', in January this year which is a self driving Batmobile style car capable of producing up to 1,000hp.

The car is powered by 4 Quad Core Motors and is capable of accelerating from 0-60 in less than 3 seconds, and attains top speed of 200MPH.
