US-based paper manufacturer NewPage has extended its flexible packaging papers portfolio with the launch of the new FlexPack Essential, designed for lamination and extrusion applications in food and medical packaging.
The new packaging paper is said to comply with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements for food contact.
Available in a variety of basis weights ranging from 22.5 to 55lb, FlexPack Essential features semi-gloss finish and works with emulsion, solventless and solvent laminations.
When compared to traditional film substrates, the paper is claimed to offer brand owners a sustainable flexible packaging option.
NewPage specialty papers business and product development director Jim Sheibley said consumers demand responsible packaging.
"With the creation of FlexPack Essential, NewPage offers brand owners the ability to add more renewable content to their flexible packaging without compromising on-the-shelf performance," Sheibley added.
