US-based United Natural Foods (UNFI) has completed the acquisition of Tony’s Fine Foods for total consideration of about $195.3m subject to certain post-closing adjustments.
Tony's will now become a wholly-owned subsidiary of UNFI with the completion of the acquisition and will continue to operate as Tony's Fine Foods.
UNFI had signed a definitive agreement in May 2014 for the acquisition of all of the stock of Tony's Fine Foods.
Founded in 1934 by the Ingoglia family, Tony's Fine Foods specializes in the marketing, logistics and distribution of deli, bakery, food service, specialty and perishable products throughout the western US, including Alaska and Hawaii.
UNFI is a distributor of natural, organic and specialty foods and non-food products in the US and Canada. At the core of UNFI's distribution operation are five main units: UNFI, UNFI Canada, Trudeau Distributing Company, Albert's Organics and Select Nutrition, including Honest Green.
