Mercedes-Benz Faces Probe for Price Fixing and Violating Country's Anti-Monopoly Law

Mercedes-Benz faces probe in China for allegedly price fixing and violating the country’s anti-monopoly law.

The Chinese pricing authorities said to have gathered evidence that the German car maker has controlled the price of its car parts and maintenance services, which could collectively cost more than 12 times the price of the Mercedes-Benz C-class.

The claim has been made by the regulatory agency of China in the eastern province of Jiangsu, but the agency has not given out the details about the penalty that Mercedes might face.

Daimler spokesperson told AFP, "We are unable to comment further on what is still an on-going matter."

Mercedes said that it will cut spare parts price in China from September in response to the anti-monopoly investigation by NDRC.
