Ford Issues a Callback for 8,000 Vehicles on Grounds of Snags Spotted in Parking Brake

US automobile major Ford has issued a callback for around 8,000 vehicles in North America on grounds of snags spotted in parking brake.

The recall covers 2015-2016 Ford Explorer, certain models of 2015 Taurus and Flex, Lincoln MKS and MKT.

The parking brakes in the vehicles are likely to show malfunction when fully engaged, a defect which is also a compliance issue with FMVSS 135 in connection with the braking systems.

However, the automobile major has said it was yet to be aware of any incidents or wounds arising out of the technical snags.

Of the total vehicles falling within the purview of the recall, 7,165 are in the US and federalized territories, 799 in Canada and one in Mexico.

The carmaker has assured that the dealers would replace the parking brake control free of cost upon inspection.

Recently, Ford also recalled around 433,000 vehicles in North America, which included certain 2015 Focus, C-MAX and Escape vehicles, due to defects in the body control model.

In those vehicles, the engine might continue to run even after turning the ignition key to off position, removing the key or pressing the Engine Start/Stop button. This is a compliance issue with FMVSS 114.
