American automotive supplier TRW Automotive Holdings (TRW) has opened its largest ever Technical Center in Anting, China.
The new 66,000m2 facility has been designed and built to house over 20 scientific testing labs that complement the company's main business areas such as braking, steering and suspension, occupant safety and safety electronics.
TRW Automotive chairman and chief executive officer John Plant said the move demonstrates the company's continued investment to support automotive manufacturers in bringing advanced vehicle safety systems to the Chinese market and the broader Asia Pacific region.
"With the number of cars on the road in China expected to double by 2020, the issues of improved vehicle safety and education, for both drivers and other road users, have to be a priority for the industry," Plant added.
With the new Anting Technical Center, TRW plans to continue to invest in developing better automotive safety systems to the Chinese market that range from electronically controlled braking and steering systems, to semi-automated driving,.
Anting Technical Center is expected to position the company to serve its Chinese customers' vehicle safety needs.
Additionally, the new Anting Technical Center will house research and development, engineering design and application, as well as testing and validation facilities for all the TRW product lines.
