Buick Takes The Wraps off The 2016 Encore Sport Touring

Buick, an arm of US automotive giant General Motors, has taken the wraps off the 2016 Encore Sport Touring, powered by a 1.4L turbocharged engine with direct injection and stop/start technology.

The direct injection produces 153 hp (112 kW) and 177 lb-ft of torque (240 Nm), reflecting an enhancement of 11% and 20% on both the fronts, respectively, from its predecessor.

Featuring a low- and mid-range engine speeds, the engine has been made compatible with six-speed automatic transmission. It also has an aluminum cylinder block and head.

Buick US vice-president Duncan Aldred said: "Encore is a driving force behind Buick's expansion and a catalyst for introducing a new generation of customers to the brand.

"The all-new Encore Sport Touring broadens that base, giving customers more choices - along with more performance, more technology and more efficiency."

The exterior flaunts a winged rear spoiler, an 18-inch aluminum wheels and body-color door handles, while the stop/start technology leads to fuel consumption by automatically shutting down the engine when the vehicle becomes stationary. The restart automatically happens when the driver releases the brake.

The new avatar also has a Convenience package, adding to 120-volt power outlet, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, dual-zone climate control, fog lamps, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert and remote starting.

Besides, the company has supplied a variable-flow oiling system in the vehicle, which induces a parity between crankshaft-driven oil pump and oil supply to engine load.
