Bmw Group Has Signed an Agreement with Boeing to Research Carbon Fiber Recycling in The Us

The BMW group has signed an agreement with Boeing to contribute in the joint research of carbon fiber recycling in the US.

As part of the deal, both the companies are to share the knowledge on carbon fiber manufacturing process simulations and plans for manufacturing automation.

The research is important for both the companies as they plan to use Carbon fiber in their upcoming products like BMW i3 and BMW i8 by BMW, and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of Product Development Larry Schneider said that it is important for the company to plan for the end of life of products made from carbon fiber.

"We want to look at ways to reclaim and reuse those materials to make new products," Schneider added.

The BMW Group with SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers has built a carbon fiber plant in Moses Lake, which produces ultra-light carbon fiber reinforced plastics for future vehicle use.
